How to extend the lifespan of your smart TV

lt is always challenging yet equally exciting to buy a TV for your home. But once you have brought one home and set it up, it is important to learn how to take care of your telly. Proper care and maintenance of television not only prevents your TV from aging faster but also extends its lifespan much longer.
a look at a few tips on how to take care of your TV and extend its lifespan

1) Use a voltage stabilizer

One of the major enemies of television is the unpredictable or fluctuating power. Low electricity or spike in voltage can damage the internal components of your TV, which can seriously shorten its lifespan, or in some circumstances, kill the machine permanently. It is advisable to use a voltage stabilizer to ensure that it is properly grounded and protected from electrical fluctuations.

2) Do not expose your TV to direct sunlight

Moderate sunlight is harmless and is thought to be good for the human body with certain benefits, but exposing your TV to direct sunlight can cause its screen to fade or discolor over time. Set the TV in a place, preferably away from the window, where it is not affected by direct sunlight. Also ensure that your living room windows have proper blinds to block direct sunlight from entering the room.

3) Keep the TV clean

Washing and cleaning is part and parcel of everyday life, and ignoring these essential chores could leave lasting damage on us. This is especially true when it comes to electronics gadgets as dust and dirt can accumulate on their body and internal components, which causes them to malfunction. Often dust gathers on the TV screen and its internal parts, and leaving them unclean cuts down on its life. Always use a soft, dry cloth to gently clean the screen. Ensure that you have unplugged the TV before cleaning the back and sides.

4) Don't overuse the TV

These days, it is nearly impossible to find one who doesn’t like to watch TV, be it for entertainment or infotainment. Such is the impact that TVs have now that they have become an integral part of everyone’s life. While there are studies revealing the ill effects of prolonged screen time on adults and children, little is talked about the impact of turning your TV on and off frequently or leaving it on for extended periods. Overusing television places unnecessary strain on the internal components, which can cut back on its lifespan. Keep the TV always off when it is not in use and avoid leaving it on for extended periods of time as that could shorten its lifespan.

5) Use the right cables

Though electronics gadgets are mostly wireless these days, they have not completely gone cordless, with TVs still using a lot of cables for varied reasons. Using the wrong cables to connect your TV to other devices can create signal issues and damage to the TV. Make sure you use the correct cables for your TV to help extend the lifespan of your TV.

6) Avoid extreme temperatures

iExtreme temperatures, either hot or cold, can harm the TV. For example, high temperatures can be the reason for the internal components of a television overheating while low temperatures can render the screen sluggish or unresponsive. In both cases, the internal components of the television can suffer permanent damage. Rapid changes in temperature form condensation on the inside of the screen, leading to permanent damage. Avoid placing your TV in a location where it is exposed to extreme temperatures. Follow these simple tips to ensure that your TV continues to provide high-quality entertainment for years to come.
